Mercer reported that 40% of surveyed insurers were interested in allocating to investment-grade direct lending and private placements.
Private credit led insurers' planned investment increases in the 2026 survey released by Marsh on 16 July. Some 57% of respondents said they intended to increase exposure over the following 12 to 24 months. The corresponding share for public investment-grade fixed income was 48%.
