Legal & General’s private markets platform and impact commitments now each reference £2bn-scale allocations, but there is no verifiable evidence that private credit deployment alone reached £2bn in 2022.
In its FY22 results, Legal & General Capital reported that alternative assets under management grew 21% to £4.2bn, up from £3.4bn in 2021, across housing, clean energy and SME finance. The business also stated an expectation to invest and manage over £30bn of alternative AUM by 2025, excluding annuity-backed assets.
Legal & General later announced a £2bn commitment to impact investment by 2030, focused on housing, infrastructure and urban regeneration to support UK regional growth. The group said this programme is expected to create around 24,000 jobs across the UK regions.
