Aviva today announced a £3bn green infrastructure debt commitment, expanding its use of private credit to finance low‑carbon and renewable energy projects.

The announcement builds on Aviva’s wider climate strategy, which includes a group‑wide target to reach net zero by 2040 across its operations and investments. Since 2019, Aviva has invested £8.7bn in sustainable assets, providing a base of existing exposure to climate‑aligned investments that the new debt programme is expected to complement.

Aviva has previously set out plans to allocate £6bn to green assets by 2025, including £1.5bn of policyholder funds directed to climate transition strategies. Within that, Aviva also targeted £2.5bn for low‑carbon and renewable energy infrastructure by 2025, indicating a pre‑existing focus on infrastructure as a delivery channel for its climate objectives.
