New business fell to £0.3bn from £1.1bn in the half in which Athora completed its acquisition.
Pension Insurance Corporation held £26.3bn of government bonds at 30 June, 48% of its investment portfolio and up from £24.2bn at the end of last year, while its corporate bond holdings fell to £11.4bn from £13.5bn.
