Generali commits €300m to European sovereignty fund-of-funds programme
The programme invests across listed and private markets through equity and debt, aimed mainly at continental Europe and at strategic sectors and SMEs.
Generali today launched a €300m European Sovereignty Programme that will invest across listed and private markets through equity and debt instruments, with capital aimed mainly at continental Europe. The structure gives Generali a multi-asset route into strategic sectors and small and medium-sized enterprises, rather than deployment in a single asset class.
The programme is set up as a fund of funds and will use a diversified approach across the main asset classes, drawing on specialist capabilities within Generali Investments Holding. Sycomore AM will run the listed equities sleeve.
Generali said the initiative is intended to strengthen European economic resilience, support SMEs and foster sustainable growth in line with EU strategic priorities, with capital directed towards innovation, European value chains and industrial competitiveness. That makes the launch a balance-sheet investment programme with a defined industrial policy tilt, even though the release does not break down how the €300m will be split between private equity, infrastructure equity, direct lending, listed equity or other exposures.
