Rising rates partly offset fall in Aviva’s shareholder cover ratio to 205%

The ratio fell from 244% at FY21 after a £3.75bn capital return, £500m subordinated-debt redemption and 2021 final dividend.

Aviva published its Q1 2022 trading update on 18 May 2022, reporting continued progress and trading momentum across Life and General Insurance. The insurer said its strong capital position benefits from rising interest rates, underpinning its confidence in meeting upgraded financial targets.
