Catalina Re broadens Apollo fund investments
Catalina Re said on 27 July that it is broadening its investments across Apollo Global Management’s fund suite, extending a relationship that already included Apollo’s capital and investment platform. Apollo reported $785 billion of assets under management as of 31 March, with $43 billion of inflows in the first quarter and year-on-year growth of 17%.
Apollo’s first-quarter update also showed fee and spread related earnings of $1.363 billion, or $2.22 per share, alongside adjusted net income of $1.119 billion, or $1.82 per share. Fee related earnings reached a record $559 million and spread related earnings were $804 million, while management fees rose 18% year on year to $508 million.
The balance-sheet side was equally active. Apollo said origination volume reached $56 billion in the quarter, global wealth inflows were nearly $5 billion and record organic inflows from Athene were $26 billion. Meanwhile, Athene’s alternative investment portfolio delivered a 10.1% return and alternative net investment income was 10.08% of average net invested assets, up from 9.10% in the prior-year period. Apollo also said more than 90 transactions were completed across debt- and equity-related activity, and that its net spread, excluding notable items, was 1.29% in 1Q 2025.
Apollo additionally said it allocated $215 million of strategic capital to fund various investments and committed $1.5 billion to the pending acquisition of Bridge Investment Group.
